Between the olive groves near Sitia
Villa Delight is also offered as Villas Delight and Sitia Villas Delight. It is a stay in the rural area west of Sitia, in East Crete. Its own website is located about two kilometers outside the city, between olive groves, overlooking mountains and sea.
The starting point of this tip is to combine peace and quiet outside the city with trips to the harbour and the hinterland. This requires a different day rhythm than staying directly on the boulevard: breakfast on your terrace, a ride to a village or beach and later back to the accommodation. The exact location and the views vary per house.
The sources describe different situations. The older own website mentions twelve villas in three groups. Eliza was here mentions eighteen apartments and three villas. The offer seems wider than the original villa description; use the specific booking description for your type of stay.
According to Eliza, all three villas and fifteen apartments have a private pool. Other apartments use a shared pool at the taverna. An advert for the complex does not automatically mean a private pool at each residence. Look at the chosen room type.
The private website distinguishes one bedroom of about 80 m2 for up to three people and two bedrooms of about 120 m2 for up to five people. Eliza also offers a five-room villa for up to ten people. Ask a larger group how bedrooms, bathrooms and sofa beds are distributed.
The original villa description mentions a kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, fridge with freezer, kettle, coffee maker and sandwich machine. Furthermore, a washing machine, ironing facilities, hair dryer, TV, air conditioning, heating and a fireplace are mentioned. The washing machine is located according to that description on the lower floor.
Outside, the website mentions a terrace, seating, sun loungers, parasols, outdoor shower, parking space and barbecue. Ask for the permitted barbecue method and any local restrictions upon arrival.
Eliza mentions free Wi-Fi and breakfast facilities in the taverna. What care you have booked, you can read on the travel confirmation. For a baby, the own website mentions a bed on request. Also ask for a stairs, the walking route between floors and the shielding of the swimming pool.
Eliza gives as an indication about three kilometers to beach and center, 700 meters to a supermarket and 122 kilometers to Heraklion Airport. These are provider distances, not routes measured by us. The two kilometers on its own website and the three kilometers at Eliza can have different measuring points.
A rental car is a practical choice for this rural stay. Before arrival, let the accommodation confirm the correct entrance, house and key transfer. A short piece on a map says little about the comfort of a walk with groceries; look at the road, traffic and lighting on the spot.
The older website describes two-storey houses. Eliza calls accommodation for disabled persons on request. Therefore, discuss the chosen home and concrete amenities when step-free access is important. Ask not only for the bedroom, but also for parking, bathroom, terrace and swimming pool.
The location page next to Sitia mentions the coast near Platani, Trachilas and Papadiokampos and further east Vai, Chiona, Kouremenos and Itanos. See these names as options to choose from. We do not use the short driving times on the older website as a fixed promise here.
An own editorial proposal: keep a day close to home with Sitia and the port, choose another day off the east coast and then save space for a quiet village or a walk. Do not combine every destination in one car. The Crete atlas and the site guides in this guide help to view the area first.
For activities, our own website mentions cooperation with Itanos Tours: hiking, water sports, horseback riding, cooking, potting and cave visits. Ask which activities are really offered during your stay, who will provide the accompaniment and what is included.
Tripadvisor has experience of peace, the location between olive groves, space and private swimming pools. There are also comments about wifi, bed comfort and the condition of the equipment. Such reviews are about a specific property on a specific stay date.
Read the latest responses and compare the housing type first. An 2016 experience doesn't automatically tell you what the situation is now. Also look at traveler photos in addition to the presentation images of the provider. We don't take an average score or star classification about which can change or be explained differently by platform.
When booking, ask which home number or type of home you will get, whether the pool is private or shared and which outdoor space is included. Please discuss the key transfer and the exact route on arrival late in the evening. Check the confirmation for your home if you have special needs such as pets, a baby bed or stairless access.
